Peninsula Dental School project shortlisted for national award

Find out about the University of Plymouth's award-nomination for an innovative dental project.

The Peninsula Dental School Social Enterprise (PDSE), a not-for-profit organisation aligned to the University of Plymouth Dental School, is a finalist in the Benefitting Society category of the Green Gown Awards UK & Ireland.

These awards recognise excellence in sustainability across higher and further education and the Benefitting Society category highlights the innovative ways universities are helping improve the lives of individuals, as well as benefit communities and wider society.

The PDSE has been nominated for its dental clinic for people experiencing homelessness. The clinic was set up to help address the issue of such people being less likely to access dental treatment, despite tending to have more acute needs than the general population.

The University of Plymouth has also been shortlisted in the Green Gown Awards Research with Impact category for an international project exploring traditional building methods.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony taking place on 8 November 2022. Good luck to all the nominees!

The Peninsula Dental School, which offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate dentistry courses, is committed to social engagement and equality, diversity and inclusion across all aspects of their activities.

Patient-centred care is at the heart of the school’s ethos, with academic staff committed to addressing today’s most challenging healthcare issues.
