This video breaks down the application steps to ensure you're ready to submit an application with the best chances of success:

Step 1 - Choose your course

Choosing the right course is an important step, so make sure to research your course and its subject matter thoroughly. Have a read-through of our course pages and give yourself time to consider how you will fit your studies around your life commitments. Our Course Adviser team can give you a helping hand in terms of advice and suggestions.

Step 2 - Contact our course advisers

Get in touch with our course advisers, who will be able to answer any initial questions you have. They can help you make the right choices regarding your course and funding options before you embark on the rest of the application process. They’ll also be happy to guide you while you put together your application.

Contact our course advisers by phoning +44(0)23 94387959 or emailing onlinestudy@plymouth.ac.uk

Step 3 - Explore your course’s entry requirements

You can find each degree programme’s entry requirements on their individual course pages. It’s still worth getting in touch if your qualifications differ from the requirements, as we understand that you can gain experience in different ways. Similarly, your personal statement (see below) can help you explain why you’re the perfect candidate for the course. Reach out to our course advisers for more information.

Step 4 - Meet the English language requirements

If English is not your first language, we’ll ask that you demonstrate a level of proficiency with the language. This will enable you to fulfil your potential for your chosen programme, and ensure you are not disadvantaged in any way. Visit here for a full list of the different English language tests we accept.

Step 5 - Submit your documentation

Depending on your course, we may ask that you submit two references as well as scanned copies of your academic qualifications. Please keep in mind that you’ll also need to include certified translations if the original documents aren’t written in English.

Step 6 - Craft your personal statement

Writing your personal statement will be one of the most important parts of your application process. This is a chance for you to showcase your capabilities and talents, while giving us an insight into your ambitions and expectations. Let us know why you think you’d be a great candidate for the course.

Step 7 - Complete the online application form

Next, you’ll want to fill out our online application form. This is where everything comes together: you’ll upload all of your documents, including your personal statement and references. You can find out more about how to do this via our Apply now page.

Step 8 - Submit your application

When you’re happy with your application, submit it to the Admissions team via our online application portal. They’ll go over your details, and you can typically expect to receive a decision within 10 working days.
