Student life
A community
Studying online doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on our University’s welcoming atmosphere. We’ve built an online community where you’ll not only be able to access virtual assistance and support, but also connect and communicate with other course members.

Before you start
Your course adviser will be the first person you meet on your new journey. They’ll assist you all the way from selecting your course to completing your application. While you study
Community support is more important than ever when you’re learning online, which is why our student adviser team is on hand to guide you through your time with the University of Plymouth. They’ll help you with any non-academic questions you may have – such as time management or queries about our learning platform – or point you in the right direction of support services you might need.
Join a global community which has the same passion for learning as you do, and share your experiences as you get to know each other through our forums, webinars, and group work. You can look forward to learning alongside professionals from a variety of fields as you share experiences and boost your own knowledge.
Each year, we host up to two subject-specific events. While these events are completely optional and don’t make up a part of your curriculum, they’re a great opportunity to dive further into your field and get to know your tutors and classmates.
Actual event costs (such as entry fees) are paid for by us, but if you choose to attend any physical events, please note you’ll need to cover your own travel and accommodation.
If you’re going through a difficult time with your mental health, our Student Wellbeing Services team is dedicated to supporting you.
Our friendly, professional, and confidential team offers one to one appointments, workshops, and self-help materials. We offer non-judgmental guidance for our diverse student population, and you can get in touch regarding any mental health or wellbeing challenges.
Through our digital library, you can access thousands of books, journals, and other learning resources. We also have a library team ready to help you develop your research skills, from formatting citations to getting the most out of our platform’s features.
Our incredible academics contribute greatly to our ability to provide teaching excellence to our students. During your programme, your tutor’s industry insights and subject knowledge will be an invaluable part of your growth as a professional.
“I think bringing together people with such a diverse background does enrich the learning experience by providing different perspectives, it helps giving you also a global perspective and not just local.”
